After a poor Saturday qualifying on my part it was all to play for on race day. P17 was our starting position for Race 1 and with a rainy forecast the grid was sure to finish much differently than it started. A great start saw us move up 3 positions going into Redgate corner. With a great exit and long blast down Crainer Curves I could close up to the next few cars in front. On the exit of Old Hairpin I managed to pick off another meaning 4 places earned on lap 1. From the chaos at the start we settled in to a rhythm and picked off a few more rivals in front. About three quarters into the race people started to make mistakes and crash into each other or take them selves on an excursion through the gravel or grass. By the checked flag we were 8th overal and 2nd in class, elation is an understatement
Race 2 was also wet but the win was in my sights. An average start saw me loose 2nd in class and move down to 9th overall. It was a hunt all the way to the finish but I couldn’t put enough pressure on the guy in front since the wets were getting too hot and the pace between us was so similar. Pressure from behind kept me honest and pushing all the way through the race so when the checked flag did come out I was relieved!
Thank you to all that came out to support me, it was a great way to start the season
