Well well well, that was an interesting weekend! After an awful qualifying on a drying track we started Race 1 P16.
Race 1 - We lost the left rear tyre on lap 2 meaning we were a lap down after we pitted. From there we had some great battles in a dry race but it came to nothing since we were a lap down, I was keen to finish though as you get points for finishing. I also managed fastest lap of the race which was another bonus to my championship attack.
Race 2! This is when it gets good. We had to start 18th as we finished a lap down on the first race. It was raining and I knew we could make great progress. We started picking them off one by one with some great side-by-side battles. We were catching and passing people lap after lap. A dry line started to appear 3/4 through the race and I knew this was time to really push push to make the most of our misfortune in Race 1. More cars overtaken and on the last lap the guy in first place was 2.5 seconds ahead. By the last corner, I was on his bumper but the motorsport gods were good to him. One more lap I would have got him! We had got to the checkered flag.
I was elated and even emotional when I crossed the line 2nd in class and 8th overall. It was mega! To top it off, I even got fastest lap of the race overall beating all the Pro’s. Super excited for Donington in 2 weeks to keep the momentum going!
What a weekend! I have never had so much emotion in 3 days!
